Upon using the update feature within VLC 2.0.4 I get an error that states that “The cryptograhic signature for the downloaded file ‘ VLC-2.0.5.tar.xz’ was invalid and could not be used to securely verify it. The file was deleted” I am running Win7-64bit on X86 platform.
This is a known issue with the 64bit variant of VLC 2.0.4 for Windows. It is solved in later releases. I’d like to ask you to get the update manually from http://www.videolan.org for this very upgrade.

I'm a contributor to the VideoLAN project since early 2003. You might have heard about a media player named VLC. Its 2.0 user interface is what I spent most of 2011's summer on.
